How to write money making “How to” reports – Part Deux!

by nigelyip on April 2, 2010

Hey Everyone

Hope you are well today. As stated last week, this week will be the continuation on the theme on how you can write your own money making report.

More specifically, we’ll be discussing about “How do you determine the subject that’s best for you to use for your first report?”

After all, you don’t want to wasting your time researching and writing reports that nobody would read or that very few would. That is unless, your niche is so specific that it commands a considerable amount of money, that it makes it worth the while.

However, before we even reach that stage, we need to first get your mind and brain into gear to channel your thinking, your thought processes and creative juices along these lines: For example, if you have a penchant for the love to fish, then it would be highly suggestible that you could probably put together a money-making report on “How To Catch The Big Ones.” If you enjoy sewing, you could probably write a report on “Tips For Beautiful Sewing”. If you have experience in advertising, you could write a report on “How To Write Ad that pulls;” or if you have experience in the printing industry, you could write a report on “How To Prepare Copy and Layout For Best Printing Results”. Should none of those tickles your fancy, or if you are like me, who has experience in running your own home business using eBay or Amazon, then you could create and write a report about them, or even better entitled along the lines “Better eBay / Amazon Business Operating Techniques”, or “Become a Powerseller / eBay Pro in less than 30 days!”

Basically, to cut to the chase, it’s worth repeating the following concept: Whatever you decide to write or research about, make it something you know about, and are especially interested in. There is absolutely no point researching and then writing a report on something that you have no knowledge, experience or passion about.

For example: my friend Gary Simpson is a Martial Art / Self- Help motivational author – expert and teacher. Cue: he has written and continues to write numerous articles, books and various other publications about motivation, self-help, and more recently, because he has entered the internet marketing niche and has made a success; he now also writes about hot topics with regards to the internet marketing world, of which include “Ad swapping, Twitter, Time management, Understanding the internet marketing mentality, etc….

Then there is Dr. Edward De Bono, an author who I highly respect, and is also a physician, inventor, and consultant. Of which, who is also regarded by many to be… the leading authority in the world in the field of creative thinking and the direct teaching of thinking as a skill.   Dr. Edward De Bono has during the past 30+ years has written 80+ books with translations into 40+ languages and has been invited to lecture in 50+ countries.

He also coined the term “Lateral Thinking,” and is regarded as the originator of lateral thinking which treats creativity as the behaviour of information in a self-organising information system – such as the neural networks in the brain. The key point is that he has sold millions of books worldwide, all on subjects he enjoys, is passionate about and has experience in.

I could go on and on – naming more regarded and respected experts and friends, and tell you how they have taken a subject they were interested in, found out everything about it they could, and parlayed it into a fortune by starting with the writing of a “How-To” / “Self-Help” report.

However… rather than go on with these stories upon stories of how others have done it, and are doing it, let’s get on with the task of showing you how you can write your own “How-To” report and parlay it into a personal wealth vehicle of your own!

As we have established previously prior to the above examples, is that once you have decided on the subject, you will or are going to write about. The next step is conducting thorough research, gathering information, not to bulk out your guide or report that you will write, but in fact to help support and provide it with information that is of relevancy and accuracy.   So why not visit your public library and “top up” on your subject.

Obviously, if you already have knowledge or experience in the subject then you may or may not need to visit your library, but in my own opinion, it pays to visit it at lease once, because you may be surprise to find out additional information that may be of great benefit to your report, guide or book that your will be writing.   For those on the other had who may not have as much experience or knowledge, but are passionate about the subject, then it might be useful to read as much about it as you can find – newspapers, magazines, books – online journals, information websites, to put bluntly… everything!

You may even want to start collecting clippings, talk to your neighbours, your friends and relatives, and take notes on all information you gather from reading and personal discussion.

When you’ve spent a good four to six weeks intensively researching your subject, gathering notes and discussing it as often as you can with as many different people as possible, you should be ready for the next step – the sorting, compiling and assembly of your notes. Simply read through all the notes and clippings you have accumulated, discarding those that are repetitious, and organizing those you’re going to use according to your “subject coverage” outline.

Whatever you do, don’t let the outline part of your project become an obstacle. Why? Because an outline is simply listing the order in which you want to write about or discuss each aspect of your subject. Everything that’s written should have a natural beginning, a body and an ending.

When you outline your subject, and your “subject coverage,” which can be likened to a table of contents, you’ll find it easier to say what you want to say. You’ll be able to say everything you want to say. You won’t have to worry about forgetting or leaving out an important point you want to make. The coverage of your subject will be more complete, and your writing will be much smoother.

Once you’ve completed your research, organized your notes, and have your “subject coverage” outline set, you are now ready to write the money-making report that just might make you rich!   Start writing or typing which ever your prefer and remember that you must write as though you were talking to someone, because writing, after everything has been analyzed, taken apart, studied, improved upon, decoded and reassembled together, is still nothing more or less than a written conversation between two people.

So…write your how-to report as though you were instructing a high school graduate in how to do something on his/her first day on the job.  It makes no difference whether you write it all out longhand or pound away at the computer. The main objective here is “Just get it all written!

Once you’ve got your material organized, start writing and don’t stop until you’re finished! Well obviously life doesn’t always happen like that, their will obiovusly be interruptions such as the phone will unexpectedly ring, the postman or postwomen would knock on your door that the packet was too large to fit through the letterbox, or that you may feel a bit peckish etc…

So the alternative is to try and get as much done as possible, if time is of priority or unavailable for such as long period, then it might be worth while, writing your report, guide or book in sections, allocate at least 10 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour etc… to it instead.

Try to maintain the momentum and don’t write a chapter and then leave it aside until a week or a month later. By that time, you would have forgotten most things. That is unless you have a superb memory which can remember details like a camera taking a picture and storing it on a memory card or on a roll of film. And even they have a limit of some sort.   Now when you have finished, be proud of yourself! Take a break, go out to dinner, enjoy a night on the town!

In other words, now is the time to put this first draft of your report aside for a few days and allow your brain, your body, and your creative juices to rejuvenate themselves.

After a couple of days off, take up your report, guide or book and go through it with a sharp pencil (if you have written it out or your mouse if your using the computer) just as you imagine an professional editor would do. Strike out, delete, rewrite, re-type and simply just polish each paragraph for clarity, accuracy and flow. It might be also worthwhile reading it out aloud to yourself.

Time spent during this re-editing process to make sure what you’ve written is easy to read, easy to understand, and each sentence follows the one previously, is just as surely as spring always follows winter. The smoother the conversation or the writing of your report, guide or book flows, the easier it will be to read, and of course, the easier it is to read, the more copies you will sell.

Yes I know the previous sentence may have sounded rather daft, but you’ll be surprised to know that despite lots of reports that get published each day, only a select few will really make it.

Why?

Many reports fail not at the first hurdle, which is to provide top quality, fresh new content but at the second one, which is the way they are presented, delivered, written and how the ideas were explained. To put bluntly, which would you prefer to read and would recommend to others?   A report, guide or book which contained great content but due to the way it was written, it meant that you had to grab your dictionary every fifth word, or that you had to decode the pages, sentence by sentence, word by word…

Or would you prefer to read a report, guide or book, which was easy to understand, the content and concepts were explained clearly and it didn’t involve you having to fetch your dictionary every fifth word because they used a scientific analogy or term.     I know which one I would prefer to read and would recommend. Do you?

Referring back to the main topic of this email, now that you have a money-making report that has the potential of making a great deal of money for you. If you have written it out via pen and paper, now is a good time to transfer your masterpiece creation onto a computer, for those who had already previously typed it up, it’s now time to turn it into an eBook format.   The most commonly used format is the Adobe PDF format.

There are many free online convertors which can turn your word document into  the so-called PDF format. The one that I use most often can be found at www.freepdfconvert.com You simply visit the website, select the browse button, locate your report, guide, or book, click on it, press open, and voila the file path should appear on screen. Next to it, there is a button to press upload. Click on it, sit back and wait.

Now, depending on your file size, the process can take between 30 seconds to a good 10 minutes. Hence you have the option of inserting your email address, so that the website can notify you when the transitional process has been completed.   Oh and don’t worry, the online convertor will not destroy or delete your original word file. It simply makes a copy of it, except rather than being in word format which anyone can edit it; it will now be also in the Adobe PDF format.

The next job is to get it out there and sell it.  To sell it, there are various way to approach this.   Of course you could sell it online website such as Amazon.com, Lulu.com etc… or if you want, you could also sell it on Ebay, however, you must make sure you clearly state in the auction listing that the item will be sent on a CD and that you do also send out a CD to your buyer. The last thing you want is the hassle of having your account suspended because you breached on of their policy rules.

Obviously, you could also post your eBook on various forums of which some have threads which allow forum members and user to list, sell and exchange goods etc… For this it’s advisable that you have your own website with at least: a sales page of some sort, a payment processor such as PayPal and a download page where the buyer will download their guide. If you want to get fancy, then you could have additional pages to offer your buyers additional products.

However for the purpose of this postl  – I shan’t go into detail about it. Maybe I will cover it in a subsequent ezine or in a future guide. But the clear advantage of having your own website is that it’s like your own store with your own product, except you don’t have to guard and lock it up at the end of each day like a brick and mortar store would have you doing.

Instead, you can simply set it up once, and forget about it. You won’t even have to touch and pack the product as everything is done online.   Obviously, it may be beneficial to have additional version available as there will be some who will still prefer the actual physical bound copy and the sense of occasion of something arriving through the post and physically tearing open the packaging.

Anyway, I shall not dabble any further, and thank you for your time in reading this post which I first wrote for my email ezine. I hope it has been of great use to you.

Now just before I dash off – I have a question to ask you – that is: what would you like to see more of? By that I mean what types of subjects, topics, areas that you would like to me cover or help you with? I can’t guarantee that I will be able to answer every possible question, but I will try my best and if I don’t know, I may know of an expert who can help.

Until next time – Best wishes!

Nigel

How to write money making “How to” reports – Part Une!

by nigelyip on March 15, 2010

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all well and had a wonderful weekend.  I personally had a pretty calamity one being that I’ve just got a year older and Mother’s Day didn’t go according to plan or at least what I had planned didn’t exactly work out that well.

Anyway, the above isn’t the reason why your here. So let’s get back to focus.

The raison d’etre for this weeks post is that from my personal experience with mail order and various Internet Marketing businesses, I have to confess, and many will probably also agree to some certain extent is that:  writing and selling information in the format of “How to Reports” is definitely the “real” Money Maker in both types of home run businesses and it basically involves the selling or the exchange of information, of which one of them it can be presented includes the commonly used basic “How To” Report.

More importantly, it’s something anyone can produce, and with all the proper ingredients at the right time, you can become independently wealthy!  The hard part, of course, is getting all the proper ingredients at the right time.

Typically a basic “Money Making Report” is usually two pages in length in mail order or a quick 6+ page report that sells for the region of around $7, fetching to anything up and beyond $27+ in the internet marketing world.

For both offline and online , the content will typically contain instructions, details, or a “How-To Method” for solving a particular problem: be that making more money, saving money, attaining greater happiness, or fulfilling an ambition or desire, gaining more website traffic, Google ranking domination strategies, twitter, article marketing etc…

The most significant differences between offline and online is that one requires the usage of snail mail and the other, virtual hyperway i.e. email delivery, which also cost significantly less. If we review from previous years, and if I can recall correctly, the most successful and biggest money-makers reports ever written, had to do with the many different ways to prepare and serve hamburger. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this simple, basic kind of information is what we’re talking about.

In fact, any man, woman or child can write a saleable report on any subject – providing he or she has knowledge of that subject through personal experience, research, or even both. A lot of women write successful money-making reports based upon better ways of solving household problems. And a lot of men write successful money-making reports on how to get greater pleasure from leisure time activities such as fishing, wood working or other hobbies. The list of subjects that one can write about is endless, and reports on how to make more money easier and faster are no more limited to male authors than expertise in cooking is limited to female authors.

For some, the sound of writing a report sounds like a daunting experience; however, actually, writing your report is very easy and quite simple. It may just take a little longer, and requires more sweat, blood and anguish to produce a “finished” product than it does for others, even if they are equally intelligent and knowledgeable.

The best advice anyone can give you on how to write a money-making report is to advise you to write as though you were talking to someone – as though you were instructing your next door neighbour via the telephone on the subject at hand.

I use the word telephone here to point out… because sometimes in life, especially in some certain situations, you can… regardless of how much you wave your arms, point your finger, or even draw wonderful Picasso-art like, or Da Vinci Technical Drawings,  you may simply can not get your message across, and your neighbour won’t “see” what you’re talking about. That is until you communicate with him or her in the kind of language that he or she can understand.

Another tip is to write in a style similar to the book reports you used to give when you were in the High School/ College. Do you remember the “assignments/ projects/theme papers” that you used to have to research, outline and write in time for them to be handed in at the end of term/year?

Obviously, you would get a good grade if you presented your work in an attractive, straightforward style, with the required facts, and didn’t pad out your paper with wasteful information.

So taking tips from what I have just mentioned, be factual, and be clear. Make sure you also know who your readers are and ideally, if possible, use the kind of language that he or she expects you to use. This does not mean that you should drop to the level of military barracks talk or that you should elevate yourself to the level of a some PHD Scholar/Graduate.

It basically just means that when writing the basic “How-To” report, you should bear in mind that these reports serve as personal one-to- one consultations between you and your reader, and that your language should establish a rapport which he or she can feel.

Next, you should outline what you want to say before you write it. This helps greatly; in fact I would definitely recommend it. Many writers “think” as they’re typing or writing what they want to say, myself included. But believe me, everything flows a lot smoother, with a lot less rewrite involved, and the finished product is always much better when you’ve outlined and planned what you want to say before you start.

When doing business, these Money-Making “How-To” reports we’ve been talking can also be known by many other names especially in the online internet marketing world. These include:  ebook guides, e-folio, e-booklet, e-manual, electronic guide, self help content or even Personal Success Plan. In reality, these reports are written guidelines that give the reader more information on a subject he wants to know more about.

Money Making reports have been, and can still be written to show other people how to start, develop, enjoy or expand a hobby; how to learn and develop new or greater abilities; how to start, develop and operate a new business, or even expand a current one; i.e. How to develop and prepare for a new career; how to make more money; how to save money, better one’s standard of living and have more time for leisure; how to solve personal problems and enjoy life more; how to attain success in any endeavour .

You’ll find that the better selling reports are well researched, authoritative, factual and helpful to the reader in the achievement of his goals. Your report can be put together and sold as anything from a a printed spiral bound guide to a multi-page electronic eBook or audio/video presentations, all of which can be downloaded and read or watched on the computer screen.

An important point to remember here is that the people who are going to buy your report are going to be interested in the information it contains – not how long it took you to put it together, the reason you wrote it, or the number of pages you’ve written – all they are most concern about is that it contains the information he or she wants, that can or will solve his or her problem.

Picking a subject to write about – one that has sales appeal and that will sell well for you – is not as hard as it sounds. The best rule to follow is to write only about something you already know a great deal about. With this advice in mind, it will follow that your best writing will be about those subjects that particularly interest you.

And remember, the more you are involved or interested in the subject, the easier it will be for you to write about that subject in a manner that will hold your reader’s interest. Your knowledge and enthusiasm will show through – causing your reader to overlook any technical writing weaknesses.

Right… that’s all for now. Next week I’ll be discussing the issue of “How do you determine the subject that’s best for you to use for your first report?”

Until next time, take care and olive war (au revoir)!

I.M.Mentality is finally out – FREE Ebook Edition!!!

by nigelyip on December 18, 2009

Hey Everyone,

It’s Nigel here with a Special eBook out today!!!

Today in fact is an extremely exciting for me, not because I went and got Mike Filsaime 7 figure Secret Code the other day, or that I had joined The League of Extraordinary Minds either about few ago.

In fact the reason I am excited is that I finally got I.M. Mentality finished and completed on Wednesday evening and now it’s ready for you all to download.

This ebook certainly had its fair share of ups and downs, and what I originally planned to write which was about developing an internet marketing mindset had to be totally re-planned.

Why? The book has now ended up being a success motivation self-help guide/fiction instead.

Additionally apart from being an ebook edition, there is also a published version too which I have slaved many hours (2 consecutives days slaving at the computer from 8am to 4am) just to ensure that the formatting of the book was correctly laid out albeit I’m still not completely satisfied.

Sure I could have paid a professional editor or formatting, but hey, even still, nothing can be absolute perfect like I have mentioned in this new book.

So… without further ado and I know you time is extremely precious. Please feel free to grab your free copy of I.M. Mentality today and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have had writing it.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who have supported me over the past year and apologies in advance if the book has offended you in anyway, whilst reading it.

Like I have aforementioned, for those who may prefer or feel from after reading the eBook edition, which they would like a physical hard copy of – then it is available for purchase at Lulu.com now via the following link:

http://tinyurl.com/im-mentality-ny

I also hope to have it on Amazon very shortly after.

Until next time, take care and have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!!!!

See you all in 2010 and I look forward to any comments or feedbacks, whether they are good or bad, that you may have with regards to my latest creation.

Thanks again

Nigel!

Automation and Systems – It’s good to have a separate blog!!!

by nigelyip on April 21, 2009

Hey my dear friends

Today, it’s going to be short post and that is, it’s great to have a separate business blog as it makes much more sense. Why? Well you see, those who have visited NG2MS will noticed that it’s based upon 2 niches, those being making money online with eBay and help with making money online with membership sites.

The advantages of having a separate blog is that it mean that I can discuss anything I like or feel appropriate on this blog whilst the other one has been fully automated and running pretty much on autopilot.

Autopilot??? Yes that’s right, NG2MS is now pretty much automated being that I have written all the blog posts for it and automated it to schedule put up posts and there are affiliate products which I hope people will click, look and hopefully buy and the only thing I have left to do is promote it, get more traffic to it and not just any traffic but “pre-conditioned” traffic to it and let it take it from there.

Autopilot or Automation – which ever one you may wish to prefer to call it, it seriously a great way to help alleviate time and reduce stress. It also mean that I can be sitting out in my friends garden whilst having a BBQ with him, discussing everything about the world, how he would put things right, and literally have a great laugh playing PC games or pool at the local “Riley’s” without having to worry about timing myself to get on a pc and put a blog post up.

Imagine, if you automated parts of your business, or other business. For example, my eBay business is pretty much on autopilot too – I simply put a few products up, sit back and just wait for people to come and buy it, when they do, at the end of each night, I just spend a hour or two, packing and dispatching the products.

Also again with my offline Home Biz Opps business, I have 3 products and each one I have developed an autopilot system for them which involves me spending no more than 2 minutes per order.

By implementing automation for my blog, it means that I can afford time to run my other businesses, and because I have implemented systems which help to semi-automate these other business, it means that I can also work less, have more fun and literally more free time to do the things I want or investigate and implementing new IM products and courses.

Now, I just need make more money, employ a VA and then I’m sorted. Have you implemented automation or a system yet? I love to hear what works for you and how you reduce hours on your business

All the best
Nigel

Zala Lulu – This Time I’m back whether you like it or NOT!!!

by nigelyip on March 25, 2009

Good morning/afternoon everyone

It’s been just over a month since I committed my departure from the group, only to realize what a seriously idiot move I had made. The value of the F500 Community is God best gift to me and there’s me jeopardizing it. But hey, that is the past now and whether you all like it or not, this time, I’m BACK from my rest, recreation period, and from my recent Tour De I.M!!!

Re-Fuel and armed with my own secret plans (cocktails) for long term success, which now needs to be implemented, it means I can now concentrate and focus all my energy on this  all important “my inner psychological battle of Me Vs IM & Making Money Online” and outcome of this war is going to be determined here over the next 3 – 6 months* time on this blog on whether who the winner will be!!! (*Note – this may take longer*)

The only difference is that:

  • It’s not about achieving the most in the shortest time, I will invest as much time as necessary
  • It’s not about setting stupid targets like cramming 3 years of IM or learning into a few weeks, I know now definitely it’s not possible
  • It’s not about the Million Dollar money issue, money is a by product, a lovely one it is for those who hunger and cherish it
  • And it certainly not about causing a stupid frenzy which jeopardizes my entire plan, business and potential success

Instead it’s about solving the puzzle, enjoying the journey and cracking the IM and Making Money Online Code !!!

And this time, it’s going to get “even” or should that be “uneven”!!! By Uneven, I mean: less than 2% effort, 98% rewards. It’s ambitious and optimistic, but then didn’t Alex once said, start small, think BIG?

Anyway – All the best and here’s to long term success
Nigel

PS: New site out at http://ng2ms.com/blog2 – remember to claim your free eBooks and money making blueprints!!! (Please allow some time for site to load – Thanks!)

And check out http://kickstartmarketer.com – really interesting site

The Next Video – A step forward or backwards?

by nigelyip on January 20, 2009

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday had been a one of them days when everything didn’t seem or go according to plan. You see, as I told you all previously,
I was hoping to get my video all done by the weekend, or latest yesterday i.e. 1 hour ago.

However as always, things never go quite to plan and it all began in the morning when I tried to do my video processing.

First, my pc decided to play up and not connect to my internet wifi box, next, it decided that it would not load any Adobe Flash 10 plugins/web elements and finally, the ADSL modem cable which run down the stairs got snagged and torned.

Yep, it wasn’t the best of all start, so anyway, I quickly sorted out these problems, only to find out that where I had stored my video, the file I had saved, didn’t save properly and all the work done previously had dissapeared, and so it was back to square one.

But then talk about failing forwards, I originally planned that I would do a video of myself talking howeve, my voice was just terrible, I sounded like a high pitch freak and there I have been thinking I had a mature voice all them years.

Anyway, the video certainly fulfills the mentioning of Alex ‘s Blog and also my own blog, plus I think it also fulfills Maria Andro’s brief of making a video about ourselves. So okay, turns out I have ot use a computer voice instead of my own voice, as it

Massacre and Pulverisation of PLR eBook

by nigelyip on January 7, 2009

Hey Everyone,
