Apple pies, Internet Marketing and Clarity!

by nigelyip on May 4, 2010

Hey Everyone,

As many may or may not have noticed. Recently, there has been quite a few online internet marketing courses that have been set up, marketed and currently running as we speak. In fact there has been so many of them, that my inbox, for it not have been the adequate size that Gmail has provide us individually, it would have probably exploded. So, okay, it may be not that dramatic, but you know what I mean.

Sure, most of them are quite parallel in what they cover or touch upon i.e. the same or similar content such as blogging, aWeber, email marketing, article marketing, use of social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Squidoo etc….

At this point some of them will probably introduce ways to attract even more traffic to their website or blog via the forms or CPA, use of work payment incentives sites such as Microworkers, MyMicroJobs or Amazon Mechanical Turk. Additionally, they may also introduce the element of video marketing, YouTube, Viddler, forums marketing, and a basic form of Keyword Searching and S.E.O.

What I must also state at this point is that I’m not trying to make a massive fuss about this or about the numerous amounts of emails that have been burdened upon me to filter through one day, but the issue is that with all these various newbie internet marketing courses, newbies for one, are sure spoilt for choice, which leads me to the second interrelated issue which directly affects us Internet Marketers and that is: How do we divide the Apple Pie?

That’s right… how do marketers divide the Apple Pie?

Let just for one moment, we imagine that the apple pie is proportionally divided into 1000 segments, each segment represents 10 wannabe die-hard, ready for action internet newbies wanting to make it big in the I.M. scene – How do we divide it?

Sure the Gurus, and more established Internet Marketers would surely grab a bigger slice or at least, snatch a few extra segments and the tasty crispy pastry edge, compared to the rest of the others who have just started, who may be scrapping over the last crumb or caster sugar granule, or the horrible soggy bit in the middle which nobody really likes, that it unless your apple pie is made and bought from the famous fast food restaurant. (In which that case – it’s all crispy, battered and even worse, the segment pieces would be even smaller.)

And guess what, things don’t have to be like that at all. In fact, nowadays, the game rules have been reversed or at least there are leniencies here and there, where one may take advantage of. Sure the gurus will still have the upper hand in most scenarios but what we mustn’t neglect is that one of the major ways that can help you stand out amidst the competition and enhance sales is to show customers that you are highly knowledgeable in your niche segment, something that the gurus have amassed through… years of initial hard work.

And you know what – you can fast tracked this process by writing blogs, posting articles on ezine articles and answering questions on various forums are excellent methods and channels of demonstrating your knowledge, your expertise as well gaining your potential customers trust and faith in you and your business.

Just remember the following word though….

“Clarity”

Why I hear you asking?

The main fundamental reason as to what will sell or not sell, is not just about having a great personal character, the best product on the market, or the most advance features in the marketplace. The most important point is clarity. Sure I’ve been banging on about the word “Clarity” for the past 10 minutes, but you’ll be amazed by the amount of guides that I have come across, of which no doubt are very good products, some even beyond excellence with respect to the content contained within, but the way that the information was presented and delivered was beyond disbelief. Some verging on being unreadable and needing a dictionary.

And I’m not joking here either. Some of the guides and courses I have come across were written with such highly technical language, fancy acronyms, and jargon, that I even had to resort to using Google, dictionaries and asking fellow I.M. friends and family if they new what the word or acronym meant.

I mean do you know what “PPCSE” is, or what “INK” means? At first, I  though “PPCSE” was some kind of fancy certification or qualification (think PostGraduate Course i.e. th PGCE bit). Apparently, when I later discovered through a CPA (Cost per Action) Advertising website that “PPCSE” meant Pay Per Click Search Engine and “INK” isn’t the liquid thing that you have stored in pretty plastic cartridges which you replace when you inkjet printer flashed at you continuously with a red light, which at night time, if unknown, one would have thought it was a ticking time bomb.

Instead “INK” stands for “Inktomi” which apparently a key player and pioneer in the search engine market, but also one that was little known, as it operated ‘behind the scenes’ without having a search facility under its own brand. Now though, it is part of Yahoo! and central to the development of Yahoo!’s own search engine technology.

What I’m trying to demonstrate here is that users, buyers, potential wannabe internet marketers and pretty much anyone else ( that also includes scientist, lawyers, doctors or any other occupations which involve researching though journals and technical papers for a living sometimes), all love reading free flowing and clear content which is easy to understand too. If they are stuck trying to understand a technical jargon, term or anagram, you can be sure they will be on their way to the next site, or the next marketing course in a jiffy, abandoning yours in no time. Therefore, one of the best writing methods is to write in a simple and easy to understand language.

Finally, if you are going to write something that will probably sell something afterwards, don’t be too blatant about promoting your products, otherwise you will be perceived to be a long advertisement and will not attract readership. People do not want to be sold, but instead they would rather prefer to understand how to solve problems in their life. If they can identify this with you, and you have solved your similar problem with a product or service that you have confidence in, that is an endorsement that resonates.

The bottom line here is: ensure what ever you write is clear, concise, transparent, and that it contain enough knowledge on your product or service, and that it is extremely easy and simple to read and understand. And if you do promise something – make sure you deliver on it and when things go wrong; don’t squeeze you way out of the situation by hiding under words that even you don’t understand

Finally remember this, if you have been sold an apple pie, of which it looks like one with the pretty apple logo on the pastry top, and you put it in your mouth, the last thing you would want to find out is that you have been misled into buying a pork pie instead. That is unless you prefer pork pies instead or apple pies, of which in that case, I’m sorry to have wasted your time!

Until next time, best wishes and regards

How to write money making “How to” reports – Part Une!

by nigelyip on March 15, 2010

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all well and had a wonderful weekend.  I personally had a pretty calamity one being that I’ve just got a year older and Mother’s Day didn’t go according to plan or at least what I had planned didn’t exactly work out that well.

Anyway, the above isn’t the reason why your here. So let’s get back to focus.

The raison d’etre for this weeks post is that from my personal experience with mail order and various Internet Marketing businesses, I have to confess, and many will probably also agree to some certain extent is that:  writing and selling information in the format of “How to Reports” is definitely the “real” Money Maker in both types of home run businesses and it basically involves the selling or the exchange of information, of which one of them it can be presented includes the commonly used basic “How To” Report.

More importantly, it’s something anyone can produce, and with all the proper ingredients at the right time, you can become independently wealthy!  The hard part, of course, is getting all the proper ingredients at the right time.

Typically a basic “Money Making Report” is usually two pages in length in mail order or a quick 6+ page report that sells for the region of around $7, fetching to anything up and beyond $27+ in the internet marketing world.

For both offline and online , the content will typically contain instructions, details, or a “How-To Method” for solving a particular problem: be that making more money, saving money, attaining greater happiness, or fulfilling an ambition or desire, gaining more website traffic, Google ranking domination strategies, twitter, article marketing etc…

The most significant differences between offline and online is that one requires the usage of snail mail and the other, virtual hyperway i.e. email delivery, which also cost significantly less. If we review from previous years, and if I can recall correctly, the most successful and biggest money-makers reports ever written, had to do with the many different ways to prepare and serve hamburger. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this simple, basic kind of information is what we’re talking about.

In fact, any man, woman or child can write a saleable report on any subject – providing he or she has knowledge of that subject through personal experience, research, or even both. A lot of women write successful money-making reports based upon better ways of solving household problems. And a lot of men write successful money-making reports on how to get greater pleasure from leisure time activities such as fishing, wood working or other hobbies. The list of subjects that one can write about is endless, and reports on how to make more money easier and faster are no more limited to male authors than expertise in cooking is limited to female authors.

For some, the sound of writing a report sounds like a daunting experience; however, actually, writing your report is very easy and quite simple. It may just take a little longer, and requires more sweat, blood and anguish to produce a “finished” product than it does for others, even if they are equally intelligent and knowledgeable.

The best advice anyone can give you on how to write a money-making report is to advise you to write as though you were talking to someone – as though you were instructing your next door neighbour via the telephone on the subject at hand.

I use the word telephone here to point out… because sometimes in life, especially in some certain situations, you can… regardless of how much you wave your arms, point your finger, or even draw wonderful Picasso-art like, or Da Vinci Technical Drawings,  you may simply can not get your message across, and your neighbour won’t “see” what you’re talking about. That is until you communicate with him or her in the kind of language that he or she can understand.

Another tip is to write in a style similar to the book reports you used to give when you were in the High School/ College. Do you remember the “assignments/ projects/theme papers” that you used to have to research, outline and write in time for them to be handed in at the end of term/year?

Obviously, you would get a good grade if you presented your work in an attractive, straightforward style, with the required facts, and didn’t pad out your paper with wasteful information.

So taking tips from what I have just mentioned, be factual, and be clear. Make sure you also know who your readers are and ideally, if possible, use the kind of language that he or she expects you to use. This does not mean that you should drop to the level of military barracks talk or that you should elevate yourself to the level of a some PHD Scholar/Graduate.

It basically just means that when writing the basic “How-To” report, you should bear in mind that these reports serve as personal one-to- one consultations between you and your reader, and that your language should establish a rapport which he or she can feel.

Next, you should outline what you want to say before you write it. This helps greatly; in fact I would definitely recommend it. Many writers “think” as they’re typing or writing what they want to say, myself included. But believe me, everything flows a lot smoother, with a lot less rewrite involved, and the finished product is always much better when you’ve outlined and planned what you want to say before you start.

When doing business, these Money-Making “How-To” reports we’ve been talking can also be known by many other names especially in the online internet marketing world. These include:  ebook guides, e-folio, e-booklet, e-manual, electronic guide, self help content or even Personal Success Plan. In reality, these reports are written guidelines that give the reader more information on a subject he wants to know more about.

Money Making reports have been, and can still be written to show other people how to start, develop, enjoy or expand a hobby; how to learn and develop new or greater abilities; how to start, develop and operate a new business, or even expand a current one; i.e. How to develop and prepare for a new career; how to make more money; how to save money, better one’s standard of living and have more time for leisure; how to solve personal problems and enjoy life more; how to attain success in any endeavour .

You’ll find that the better selling reports are well researched, authoritative, factual and helpful to the reader in the achievement of his goals. Your report can be put together and sold as anything from a a printed spiral bound guide to a multi-page electronic eBook or audio/video presentations, all of which can be downloaded and read or watched on the computer screen.

An important point to remember here is that the people who are going to buy your report are going to be interested in the information it contains – not how long it took you to put it together, the reason you wrote it, or the number of pages you’ve written – all they are most concern about is that it contains the information he or she wants, that can or will solve his or her problem.

Picking a subject to write about – one that has sales appeal and that will sell well for you – is not as hard as it sounds. The best rule to follow is to write only about something you already know a great deal about. With this advice in mind, it will follow that your best writing will be about those subjects that particularly interest you.

And remember, the more you are involved or interested in the subject, the easier it will be for you to write about that subject in a manner that will hold your reader’s interest. Your knowledge and enthusiasm will show through – causing your reader to overlook any technical writing weaknesses.

Right… that’s all for now. Next week I’ll be discussing the issue of “How do you determine the subject that’s best for you to use for your first report?”

Until next time, take care and olive war (au revoir)!

Lights……Camera……ACTION!!!

by nigelyip on December 11, 2008

HEY Everyone,

I’m really happy today as I’ve managed to get my latest ebook out for you all to read, review and use. Those who have regulary been on my blog will know I’ve been mentioning about this during the past week. To be honest with you all, I really surprise myself here with this ebook as it took me less than 4 days to get it written, make the confimation and download pages as well as sorting out the ebook graphics myself.

Yes I know Alex will give me a big whack on the head for not using Divinity Design, but what was their website again as I couldn’t find them and google didn’t even list them. Plus, all the other sites I saw, they were asking hefty prices of $100 upwards.

Anyway, Moving swiftly on, has anyone checked out Dean’s eBook yet as I have, and it certainly puts my eBook to shame. For those who have not checked out Dean’s Blog IT ebook, I suggest you head over there and get it straight away once you’ve finished spending some time on my blog. Or you could go over there now and come back here after, it’s really up to you.

Why am I saying you should get Dean’s eBook and why it makes mine look so shameful? The reason is: it’s so professional written as the content within is top notch stuff, plus it’s so well planned, laid out and literally to put it – “Perfectly Executed” from start to finish. So grab it whilst you can!!!

Anyway, my ebook, “Lights… Camera…. Action…” well I won’s say much about it other than it’s my first attempt a writing an ebook in this particular style i.e. step by step guide sort of way and although I have written a few ebooks before, they were sort of more…. explaining a business ideas and how to operate it rather than relating to Tech Stuff.
Photobucket

So yeah, just fill in the form below, and grab my new latest ebooks.

Thanks Nigel!!!

PS: Remember to read the preview edition first and then the main edition afterwards.
