Email marketing + Open sesame

by nigelyip on June 9, 2009

Hey everyone

How are you all today? I hope you are well.  Today I like to discuss with you all as well as the coming posts about E-mail Marketing.  As we may all know, that one of hte best methods to online marketing is with email communication. It’s the most direct way to contact your customer personally, it’s quicker than snail mail and it’s very clean. Clean by that I mean no, folding letters, stuffing them into envelopes and sticking postage stamps, not to mention a trip to your nearest letter/mail box. I personally know this because I’ve been in the home direct mail order business for over 4+ years and the time it’s takes to stuff envelopes usually tends to leave you with RSI like symptoms, numb fingers,  wrists which hurt when twisted, or grabbing an object, and neck ache too.

So, you can already see the benefits of email marketing. But then there’s another problem, like with any offline direct mail order mail shots and that is:

Anyone out there and that includes myself who can use a computer, have an email account and can use a mouse to point and click, chances are that you will only click on emails that interest you and those who keep bombarding you end up in the delete/trash bin, marked as spam or diverted to your bulk folder. I guess this is good that we implement such system to help keep our minds free from stress, and eyes not having to read these emails.

However, if we turn the tables around…. then we have a problem on our hands. Why? Well you got your internet website setup, you’ve got your sales page primed with a money push button, a OTO page behind, a download pages and possibly a name collecting Aweber form, now you need to get that all important notification/promotional email sent out to drive traffic and potential customers to your website and possibly buy.

BAM!!! What happens if your email get’s trapped between or labelled as one of those emails that get diverted, marked as spam, or deleted? What happens if the your reciepient doesn’t see your all important message contained within your email?

The answer is pretty straight forward – No view, no replies, no potential sales = no money. Or to put bluntly, your business will go down the pan faster than you can say your subject line!

Which brings me on to another point – “Subject Line”. Subject line is especially important, get it wrong, you’ll be losing customers without you knowing it and before long, you’ll have no list. Get it right, and your customers will keep an eye out for your emails.

There is no right or wrong way to email marketing, as no one customer is the same, and there are numerous techniques that will work of which you can apply to your email subject lines to make them more effective.

Oh and did mention that I personally don’t send out emails often. To date, I’ve only sent out 4 in total but my stats from my last two email broadcast were 54.9% success open rates and 37.2% success open rates respectively and that was just to a list of 71 and 78 people.

You can check out my stats by checking the following pic link and see for yourself.

aweber stats

So, my aim for the coming few posts is to discuss how you can tackle email marketing and get the best out of it as well as using it for your business.

Have a wonderful day

Nigel

Successful Networking – 3 pronged attack on JV’s? Part 2

by nigelyip on June 2, 2009

Hi everyone,

How are you all and oh yes, Today, I will be continuing the remainder part of the 2 part – successful networking post.

Like I mentioned earlier, I picked this method up recently and it’s nothing major really, but it’s definitely a method to help build relationship and there are 3 steps

These are:

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -

First Step –   What is your name?

Yes I know, it a really simply question, but knowing somebody’s name is vitally important and whatever you do, make sure you make a mental note . By that I mean, would you be annoyed if I forgot your name? So to reiterate, whatever you do, try and remember the name too.

You’ll be surprised to know that there is a lot of power contained within a name. Why? When you address someone by their name, it engages them into a conversation with you, you get their undivided attention and they pay more interest to you as well. It not only shows you respect them, but it makes them feel special too. It’s like and imagine the scenario, John meets Debra from a seminar meeting 5 years ago, They only spoke for like 2 mins and since have never got in touch.

However, tonight, fast forward 5 years later, at the new seminar meeting, they bump into each other, Debra doesn’t remember John, but then, John back then was a youth, early 20′s who looked like a 16 year old and now he’s like 6ft 2″, handsome young man, who looks rather successful. He looks at Debra and say Hi Debra, and Debra is startled that this stranger know her name. Obviously at this point, Debra maybe quite intimidated and so of course, John needs to introduce himself and remind her of the seminar meet 5 years ago.

What this has done is that John has instantly elevated Debra to feel not only embarrassed but special too at the same time. Of course, it also means John has just captivated her undivided attention and has engaged her into a general conversation about past times, current situations etc…..

The point is that: name is very important.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -

Second Step:  What do you do? or specifically what do THEY do?

Once you have established somebody’s name, you need to find out what they do? See what they are interested in etc… The reason is hat whilst they are telling you all this wonderful information about themselves, you are building a relationship with them,  they feel like you are interested about them, and at the same time, if possible, you need to also think about where they can fit into your network, or do you know anyone who would be interested in meeting them and seeing what they do, and if you know somebody that you think would benefit from them, or would be interested in what they do, then slip in a word or two about it, explaining how you could put them in touch etc…

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -

Third and final Step – Who is your/are their ideal customers and clients

That’s right, find out what your newly met friend ideal customers are? Or what exactly does the service or product the offer  would cater for i.e. target recipient. If they describe their ideal customers and it relates to yours, that’s fabolous, you could be looking at a possible JV with them, advertising something to each others customers lists, or work on a new project/deal together etc… The possibility are endless.

However, if they describe their perfect customers which are completely to the opposite end of yours ideal customers group, but you know somebody who may benefit, again explain to them that you know may be of interest to them.

And that’s it really, networking is really that simple, 3 simple basic questions that are not only a great conversation starter but also good for networking.

So, get out there, memorize these: “to-ask” questions and expand your network. Seriously, everyone one of you out there has a 199% better chance that I have at this networking business, the reason?

Everyone of you out there is either more handsome, taller, or prettier looking that I am. Oh and you don’t have a squeaky voice or horrible looking teeth like I do too, so yeah, get networking and don’t let it be an obstacle for you.

Until Next time

Successful Networking – 3 pronged attack on JV’s? Part 1

by nigelyip on May 26, 2009

Hi everyone,

What a lovely day it is today, and what a great time it is to blog in the back of my garden first time whilst using my my 4 year old treasured laptop. You know, what, I’m not exactly an outgoing person and to be honest really, this building a relationships thing is really out of my comfort zone, well it was, until recently, where I discovered a methodology secret to successful networking.

Networking as you may know, is that it can be very easy or very hard from some. i.e. like myself , who tend to prefer to keep myself to a corner at a gathering, a seminar or a party. However with internet marketing, this barrier must be broken down, if we are to ever generate customers, discovering new JV partners, researching a market and even for launching a new product.

Additionally, networking isn’t just about getting people to be interested in you…oh..no…. it’s not like that anymore. The aim of networking is to build a network between the people you meet and other people you know.

For example… let’s say I meet this guy at this seminar and he’s called John (to keep things simple), I’ve been talking to him for a while using my 3 pronged attack method that I picked up (more on this later) and I found out that, he’s a website designer, and very good one too! He’s done numerous websites for all the IM gurus out there so he’s pretty special.

Now for some, they will just remember his name and what he does and that’s about it.

What we should be aiming to do instead is this: whilst your gathering information about what John does, you need to put you mindset into a mode where you thinking of “Hey I know a great web designer that should be able to help you out or, hey, I know just a person who require your web design services.

The reason you need to be in this mindset is so that, not only are you establishing links between people, but your also establishing a presence for yourself, a reputation for knowing the right people for the right job and by also pairing up these people who are looking for one another i.e. supply and demand (not love dating for those who were digressing), then these guys and gals will thank you for it.

Why?  You helped them out. You saved them having the hassle and time looking for a reputable individual or company, or an expertise which would have taken them hours, days, weeks, months to find, plus your also helping them create business and make money as well.

With customers on the other hand, it’s about you helping them finding the solution to an problem that they have been actively seeking to solve.

Networking if done successfully and correctly, then the outcome is that  people will either love you, thank you, follow you or feel like they owe you a favor. Which is essentially what you need especially with potential and existing customers. And because they feel they owe you something, and you offering a product which solves another one of their problems, then they are more inclined in buying, downloading or listening to what you have to say pr offer.

Networking, it’s not really that hard, you just need to step out of your comfort zone and start chatting!

Until next time

Wittgenstein’s Rabbit

by nigelyip on May 12, 2009

Hi everyone

Now, I’m not making fun at you today or playing any tricks with you all either, but just take a look at the picture below and tell me what’s the first thing you see?

duckrabbit

I’m guessing most of you would say it’s a rabbit, however the funny thing is this, take a look at the picture again but instead tile your head 45 degrees angle to your right hand side… notice anything different? Doesn’t it look like a duck as well? You see, it’s called a Wittgenstein’s Rabbit and about looking at something from a different angle. Because when you do, it sheds a whole new light on it.

No matter if it’s a funny cartoon brain trickery drawing, a book, a magazine, a car, or even a an business opportunity, it always pays to take another look, obviously from another angle or perspective. The key is that by stepping back and looking at something from various angles, and as much as we may miss obvious errors and possibly the chance to improve something for the better, we may sometimes completely miss the opportunity by already placing a biased image, comment, decision in our mind.

So it definitely pays to take your time, to consider things fully, observe things from all angles and perspective and certainly don’t judge things upon first impressions. Partly because if you do, you could miss out on something truly great and spectacular. I know I did, have, been there and done that, I do regret about them, not for long though, and then I move on. No point fretting about something when it has already happened

Anyway as they say, if you only look for a rabbit, then that’s all your going to ever see and get.

Until next time, have a wonderful day!

Copycat’ing Success!!!

by nigelyip on April 29, 2009

Allo, Allo!!!

Lol, How is everyone today, if you haven’t guessed it yet, yes I have been watching Allo, Allo! The long-running British sitcom broadcast on BBC1 from 1982 to 1992 comprising eighty-five episodes with Rene Artois in it – lol!!! For some, who have also watched “Secret Army”, they will say Allo! Allo! looks like a parody of “Secret Army”, which brings me on to “Copycat’ing Success”.

You see, like many successful TV shows, films etc…. you always get a spin off, about a year later i.e. think Matrix and all the other films that subsequently came afterwards with the bullet time effects.

Most successful internet businesses are based upon a already proven successful model. But however have you ever noticed that Most marketers DON’T make their money by following the exact methods they sell to you. They always do something “EXTRA” that gives them that “EXTRA” advantage, and that is why you end up buying more of their products and other guru’s products that they promote to you.

This by mean is excellent, because the Guru has just made more money from you and everyone else, and in return you increase your knowledge another step up the stairs of Internet Guru Stardom and your business makes more money.

However, have you ever really stepped back and start studying the guru himself rather than the methods he sells?

Automation and Systems – It’s good to have a separate blog!!!

by nigelyip on April 21, 2009

Hey my dear friends

Today, it’s going to be short post and that is, it’s great to have a separate business blog as it makes much more sense. Why? Well you see, those who have visited NG2MS will noticed that it’s based upon 2 niches, those being making money online with eBay and help with making money online with membership sites.

The advantages of having a separate blog is that it mean that I can discuss anything I like or feel appropriate on this blog whilst the other one has been fully automated and running pretty much on autopilot.

Autopilot??? Yes that’s right, NG2MS is now pretty much automated being that I have written all the blog posts for it and automated it to schedule put up posts and there are affiliate products which I hope people will click, look and hopefully buy and the only thing I have left to do is promote it, get more traffic to it and not just any traffic but “pre-conditioned” traffic to it and let it take it from there.

Autopilot or Automation – which ever one you may wish to prefer to call it, it seriously a great way to help alleviate time and reduce stress. It also mean that I can be sitting out in my friends garden whilst having a BBQ with him, discussing everything about the world, how he would put things right, and literally have a great laugh playing PC games or pool at the local “Riley’s” without having to worry about timing myself to get on a pc and put a blog post up.

Imagine, if you automated parts of your business, or other business. For example, my eBay business is pretty much on autopilot too – I simply put a few products up, sit back and just wait for people to come and buy it, when they do, at the end of each night, I just spend a hour or two, packing and dispatching the products.

Also again with my offline Home Biz Opps business, I have 3 products and each one I have developed an autopilot system for them which involves me spending no more than 2 minutes per order.

By implementing automation for my blog, it means that I can afford time to run my other businesses, and because I have implemented systems which help to semi-automate these other business, it means that I can also work less, have more fun and literally more free time to do the things I want or investigate and implementing new IM products and courses.

Now, I just need make more money, employ a VA and then I’m sorted. Have you implemented automation or a system yet? I love to hear what works for you and how you reduce hours on your business

All the best
Nigel

Why do we hate mistakes!!!

by nigelyip on April 7, 2009

Hello my dear reader,

Today I like to discuss something that I know many would rather not discuss and that is mistakes.  As we all know that, when we make a mistake, mess up something bad style, we tend to feel… rather embarrassed, some of us even angry, or frustrated that we made a  wrong turn, a bad choice, a mis-calculation, which either made us look like a fool and will cost us both time and/or money?

Well, to be honest, I was in a similar situation not long ago, and reflecting back, it wasn’t that bad after all. The reason being that yes, you can learn from other’s mistakes, however to truly understand and learn from a mistake, as well as trying to not committing it again, we must actually have to experience it ourselves first hand.

So therefore, for those of us who have yet to reach the next step towards the red carpet of Internet Marketing Stardom Success,  just keep trying,  just keep making mistakes, and as like the Danish physicist and Nobel Prize Winner Neils Bohr famously said:

” An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made in a very narrow field.”

Therefore, everyone will become an expert of some sort, some day, we just need to commit and learn from all of the mistakes we will make. The only difference is how fast will be commit, learn and adapt from them? Will it be 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, a year? Or even a Year and a Half, like Alex, Maria and all the other internet marketing gurus and experts who are on the step above us?

So why do we hate mistakes? Well we don’t, it’s just that when we were little, as kids, our parents would tell us off and we would feel embarrassed in front of all of the other kids who were looking and giggling at us, and thus a possibility why we may have been temporarily mentally program and scarred to hate making mistakes.

But in fact, what we didn’t or may not have learnt or understand was that: when we were a little kid, our parents were simply offering us advice and helping us avoid committing the same act/mistakes again. The only thing they forgot to do was: teaching us how to learn and embrace mistakes, and how to to pick ourselves back up from it, but then again, it’s something I guess we have to learn as we mature and get older.

My question for all is: see if you can’t make a mistake today?
Nigel

I know I’ve already made one and that is I put this first over picking up my brother from college and now I’m 10 mins late!!! Ooops!!!

Zala Lulu – This Time I’m back whether you like it or NOT!!!

by nigelyip on March 25, 2009

Good morning/afternoon everyone

It’s been just over a month since I committed my departure from the group, only to realize what a seriously idiot move I had made. The value of the F500 Community is God best gift to me and there’s me jeopardizing it. But hey, that is the past now and whether you all like it or not, this time, I’m BACK from my rest, recreation period, and from my recent Tour De I.M!!!

Re-Fuel and armed with my own secret plans (cocktails) for long term success, which now needs to be implemented, it means I can now concentrate and focus all my energy on this  all important “my inner psychological battle of Me Vs IM & Making Money Online” and outcome of this war is going to be determined here over the next 3 – 6 months* time on this blog on whether who the winner will be!!! (*Note – this may take longer*)

The only difference is that:

  • It’s not about achieving the most in the shortest time, I will invest as much time as necessary
  • It’s not about setting stupid targets like cramming 3 years of IM or learning into a few weeks, I know now definitely it’s not possible
  • It’s not about the Million Dollar money issue, money is a by product, a lovely one it is for those who hunger and cherish it
  • And it certainly not about causing a stupid frenzy which jeopardizes my entire plan, business and potential success

Instead it’s about solving the puzzle, enjoying the journey and cracking the IM and Making Money Online Code !!!

And this time, it’s going to get “even” or should that be “uneven”!!! By Uneven, I mean: less than 2% effort, 98% rewards. It’s ambitious and optimistic, but then didn’t Alex once said, start small, think BIG?

Anyway – All the best and here’s to long term success
Nigel

PS: New site out at http://ng2ms.com/blog2 – remember to claim your free eBooks and money making blueprints!!! (Please allow some time for site to load – Thanks!)

Life is Special and you only have one of them

by nigelyip on March 22, 2009

Hey Everyone

Today is a very special day, especially for all the kids in the UK, as it’s Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday whichever one you prefer to call it is a day when we let our mothers’ know how much she means to us.

Usually kids will cook and serve breakfast in bed for them, or a nice dinner out, families get together for those who live far away or have to work abroad, some will also bake cakes, present gifts, send cards and flowers etc… Obviously there are many more different ways to show how much our mothers mean to us.

Now it just happens that I somehow stumbled a really interesting YouTube Video which coincidentally fits in with this post.

The song is by a Romanian Teen Band called Blaxy Girls and song entitled Dear Mama. Now, the main reason I posted it on my blog is that the concept/story contained within this MTV certainly has a special important message of which I think everyone out there can appreciate.

The song demonstrates that how our mothers are always constantly thinking about us, are on the lookout, helping and supporting us when we most needed, nurturing and looking after us from birth to adulthood and beyond. And trying their best to protect us from danger. (Oh and don’t forget our fathers’ too, as they do the same too, except they try to act cool – lol)

So here it is:

I hope all those who have or will watched this video will appreciate that we should be grateful that we have mothers (and fathers) that are there when we need them most. Some people unfortunately have lost them at an very early age or were born without them and left at orphanages.

So okay, you’re wondering why should you listen to me as I’m no expert or in a position to advise anyone, but what I will say is that for those whose relationships with mothers (or fathers) are not too well, or you find them can be annoying at some time, or you hate them for something they did that you didn’t agree thus you had an intensive argument with them that you think can not be repairable. Step back and think again but from their perspective.

All they were trying to do was helping us in becoming a better person, investing their efforts into us so that our lives can be easier and not hard. Plus, hating or having a grudge against them is bad for health, both physically and psychologically. It’s like comparing to have a knot in a piece of rope.

So, just make an effort, untie that knot, try and rebuild that relationship with them, forgive them and let your ego go. Your parents have already forgiven you and they are just waiting for you to come back, and will always be there for you whenever you need them.

You only get one mother (and father) in your lifetime and so, don’t neglect them, only to regret later when they are gone. Plus it doesn’t cost much at all to say that you are sorry or that you love them. It might be quite hard for some to say any of the aforementioned phrases, but the thought will mean at lot to them personally and you will also feel happier too, because the knot in your heart has been untied.

I’m sorry if I have offended anyone and best regards
Nigel

PS: Happy Mother’s day to both my mum and all the mothers out there in the World. For it be Without your continuous contribution, (as well as father’s too) we would not be here or become who we are today. Thank you!

Another Year has passed – another year of failure or success?

by nigelyip on March 13, 2009

Hey Everyone,

Today is quite a special day for me as it marks another year of my life has just passed away. Whether one has said the past year has been wasted or not is another matter.

Not only this, it also marks another milestone that 1 month has passed and it’s now time for me to take some action with my life and steer it in the correct direction to the destination of where I wish to go.

Some will say that the journey to getting there is more important, and some will say that the arrival at the destination is more important.

To be honest, both are of equally important – reason being that: Everyone has their own aims, ambitions and paths to life and success, and no one individual has the same exact goals or ambitions. They may have similar goals or crossover from time to time, but ultimately, we are all seeking and pursuing on our own journey of life and unlocking our own personal secrets, and you know what? No one formula fits all.

Furthermore, the journey that we may or may not experience in regards to various aspects of daily life, really is determined by our own individual actions, decisions and whatever has been thrown at us.

We just need to learn how to manipulate these choices and options given to us, apply what we see fit for ourselves and then amalgamate both these variables to fit our individual needs and aims. And when we have done this, we just need to have faith and belief in our choices and decisions, and not let anything or doubt put us off track.

Well, that’s all for now today, nothing particularly special, just plain ranter?

Take care my dear friends and come back soon!!!
Nigel
