Module 4 – Social Media Money – Is it really all the hype?

by nigelyip on December 19, 2008

Hey all,

How is everybody? So was Social Media worth staying up for – well let’s get stuck in.

Firstly, Alex is certainly back on course now compared to module 3, however I did notice how Alex had toned it down and focused more on learning to make money rather than promising us that we would make money by Christmas. But still Alex delivered a very-very powerful module.

To begin with, Alex discussed the advantages of why we should build synergy into out blogs in order to help with driving traffic. For those who don’t know what synergy is, and before those clever clogs say that it’s the same word that you see on a Toyota Prius front car wing logo and although, yes that maybe the case, it actually means according to Wikipedia

a term used to describe a situation where the final outcome of a system is greater than the sum of its parts.

By that,

Hey Nigel,

Another top post and thanks for your email btw.

Yes, I might have to adopt ‘josh’ as my pen name if he turns out to be more successful than me, lol.

Those viddler stats are amazing aren’t they. I was right on to it yesterday and uploaded the video of mine (sorry, josh’s) that Alex showed last night and will let you know the results. I have seen yours on viddler too:)

I haven’t really used twitter to it’s full potential yet but will get stuck in. One thing I have noticed when you follow the big names is that they send you an email. This has a link to a squeeze page and free offer so I want to find out how that’s done.

My stats have gone over the 1000 visitor mark now and I have just put up a post on what traffic methods I used. (Am I pimping now?, lol).

Anyway, I have sent you another email so I will speak to you later mate!
Cheers
Mark

Hi Nigel

Thanks for a wonderful update. Unfortunately I could not stay for the entire Module which was disappointing to say the least.

I have yet to catch up on all of my Posts however I will respond to your last past, tommorrow, or should I say later today considering it is now 3.07 am! Didn’t get to the beach however I am meeting up with one of our Fellow Students down at a beachside cafe overlooking the ocean on Wednesday which will be good.

Did Alex state the new scheduled times for the remaining Modues? And did he indicate how much longer this course will go for? I need to organise my schedule for the coming week so that I can work around clients.

Today as I was listening, I did catch Alex’s segment on writing and I thought I would stop by and leave this with you. It is something that I was actually working on….would you believe it!! This time yesterday morning. Oh my goodness!!!

Anywa…see what you think.
It just so happens that in the wee hours of this morning, I was sitting here at my computer typing up an article on How Too Write Creative Copy Every Time!!

How ironic it is that our esteemed teacher, Mr. Alex Jeffrey

Nigel, Nigel, Nigel,

I should probably be commenting on your frustrated post, but this one will do just as well.

It’s been 23 years since I was 21. If I could be who you are today, I would turn the clock back in a heart beat. Social Marketing is second nature to your crowd, but the professionalism you show on your blog and in your products screams PRO.

You have the best of both worlds. Young with attention for detail. I don’t buy it for one moment that you can get by with sloppy work. Yes… be quick, but be correct. Aside from a couple of double entries on your blogroll and the evil, wicked comment I found on the about me page. You’re pretty perfect to me.

Nigel, Go back to your about me page and get rid of the bad karma.

Hi Mark,

Yeah I might have to start calling you Josh lol… it’s great to hear that your blog traffic is increasing so much – mines nearly reaching 2000 now – still unsure where all these people are coming from but I don’t mind them as long as my blog can cope with them all to share the info I have here.

All the best
Nige

Hi Coleen

How are you? I haven’t heard much from you lately! Is everything well and I’m glad that you enjoy my blog post reviews on the modules. Unfortuantely my computer gave me the dreaded blue screen at 3am (uk time) and so I missed out on what day or time the next module is held on- but if I do find out I will immediately let you know.

Btw I really appreicate putting that useful information about “Power Words” and how to appraoch and conduct good copyrighting as well the strategy – TOP STUFF!!!

All the best to you as well
Nigel

PS: I will drop by your blog once my internet starts working properly again!

Renee, Renee, Renee.

Firstly, I’ve dropped you a message on your blog – so please do check it out and apologies, I’ve just realised I missed out a few commas in one of the sentences for the comment message I left you. And thank you for your kind comments, I didn’t realise I was doing what you said in the comment above, however I definately agree with you about not rushing things and providing good value and quality. I guess I must have been really tired last night when I was managing the blog roll.

Anyway all the best to you.
Nigel

PS: Could you tell me what the ‘evil, wicked comment was’ as I’m a bit clueless about it. Thanks!!!

Hi Nigel,

Several students are suitably impressed with your video ebook, so I’m about to download my own copy now. Great post – like your style of writing.

Dave
